- Boot issues persist. Sometimes it hangs, sometimes it boots fine. I think this may be due to BlueSCSI SD card fragmentation.
## 12/11/2024
- Replaced original 4MB of RAM with new [4MB of RAM from MemoryMasters](https://www.ebay.com/itm/155274684512) to try to fix intermittent boot issues
- Installed 1N4002 diode into CR1 on the motherboard to [provide termination power](https://tinkerdifferent.com/resources/mac-plus-scsi-term-power-mod.123/) to the SCSI port, so that BlueSCSI can be used without a 5V USB power supply!

- Replaced eject gear on floppy drive
- Reinstalled floppy drive and reassembled Mac
- Learned that you [MUST use the floppy ribbon cable with the](https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-plus-non-stop-ejecting.5418/post-62128) [YELLOW](https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-plus-non-stop-ejecting.5418/post-62128) [stripe](https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-plus-non-stop-ejecting.5418/post-62128)!!

- Began servicing floppy drive
- Ejection gear was busted, as expected
- Didn't replace the gear - don't have it yet

- Received the Floppy Emu, played around with it a bunch, works great. Mac will boot to the external drive even when there is no internal drive connected at all. HD20 mode also works nicely, will be great to use once the internal floppy is repaired.
- Also got MacTerminal working with TheOldNet Wi-Fi serial modem. Connected to BBSes, DX clusters, etc.
## 11/17/2024
- Removed internal floppy drive and cable
## 11/16/2024
- New keyboard from eBay arrived, works well
- Set of 50 recycled 800K floppies arrived from FloppyDisk.com
- Some are labeled as single-sided, but they format at 800K???
- Spent the day making backups of Carolyn’s 400K disks
- SimCity and a few others were unreadable after copying
- **The floppy drive failed** - gears started making an awful grinding noise during ejection, and now there is a servo or something that runs nonstop. Will need to disassemble it to diagnose and repair. ☹️
- I think an ejection gear exploded. [Does this explain it?](https://macgui.com/news/article.php?t=438)

## 11/12/2024
- Logic board voltages are okay: 5.02V, 11.94V
- Something inside is making a light "ticking" noise a few times per second - can't determine what component, sounds like it's coming from the analog board, possibly the HV transformer
- Re-flowed solder joints for 3 connectors on analog board - no change
- Found the video culprit! At least one of them. The J4 connector on the analog board is iffy - the video signal comes and goes when it is poked via wooden spoon. Might be a cold solder joint, or a bad connection in the connector.
## 11/11/2024
- Visual inspection of analog board does not reveal any leaky or bulging capacitors
- Replaced capacitors on analog board with Console5 kit
- Computer powers up with "bong", seems to try to access disk drive, so I think it's booting
- Display has a zig-zag pattern
- UPDATE: This is normal, the brightness and contrast needed to be adjusted per the service manual.
- Display starts out bright but then dims over a couple minutes
- Disk drive can eject!!
- ~~[This thread](https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/diagonal-lines-on-macintosh-plus-solved.1436/)~~ ~~claims to replace U2 (SN74LS38N) on the logic board~~
